This guide shows you how to assign a dedicated salesperson to individual campaigns, giving you precise control over who handles leads and booked meetings for each outreach effort.
Why Assign Campaign-Specific Salespeople
Assigning different salespeople to different campaigns lets you match expertise to outreach strategy:
Specialize by method: Have your podcast expert handle Podcast Interview campaigns while your audit specialist manages Website Audit campaigns
Territory management: Assign salespeople based on geographic regions or industry verticals in your lead lists
Workload balancing: Distribute high-volume campaigns across multiple team members to prevent calendar conflicts
When you assign a salesperson to a campaign, the AI SDR will automatically use that person's calendar to book meetings with leads from that campaign.
Prerequisites
Before assigning salespeople to campaigns:
You have an active campaign (learn how to create a new campaign)
Team members are added to your workspace
Each salesperson's account has connected their Google Calendar for meeting booking
Assigning a Salesperson to a Campaign
Follow these steps to set a dedicated salesperson:
Navigate to Cold Email Agent from your dashboard sidebar
Click on the campaign you want to configure
Click the Options tab (located next to Analytics, AI Agent, Leads, and Sequences)
Scroll to the Assigned Salesperson card
Click the dropdown menu
Select a workspace member from the list (shows name, email, and role)
Click Save Changes
You'll see a green success message confirming "Salesperson updated successfully."
The dropdown only shows team members who have connected their calendar. If someone is missing from the list, make sure they've completed their Google Calendar integration.
Using the Default Salesperson
If you don't select a specific salesperson for a campaign, the system will use your global default from Settings > AI SDR > Assigned Call Handler.
This global setting determines how leads are assigned across all campaigns without a dedicated salesperson:
Automatic assignment: Uses role-based priority (Owner → Admin → Member) and availability
Specific member: Routes all unassigned campaign leads to one person
To change your global default, visit the AI SDR settings.
Campaign-specific assignments always override the global default. If you've assigned a salesperson to a campaign in the Options tab, that person will handle all leads from that campaign regardless of your global settings.
How Campaign Assignments Work
When a lead from your campaign requests a meeting or gets escalated to a call:
The AI SDR checks if the campaign has an assigned salesperson in the Options tab
If yes, it uses that person's calendar to find available meeting times
If no, it falls back to your global Assigned Call Handler setting
The AI proposes meeting times based on that person's availability settings and calendar conflicts
Leads are automatically tagged with their assigned salesperson in your CRM for tracking and reporting.
Common Use Cases
Matching Expertise to Campaign Method
Different outreach methods require different skill sets. Assign salespeople based on their strengths:
Podcast Interview campaigns: Assign your team member who excels at building media partnerships and understands podcasting
Website Audit campaigns: Route to your technical expert who can discuss SEO, performance, and conversion optimization
Direct outreach campaigns: Assign your closer who specializes in direct sales conversations
Geographic Territory Management
If you're running campaigns targeting different regions, assign local salespeople who understand the market and can schedule meetings in compatible time zones.
You can change the assigned salesperson at any time from the Options tab. New leads will route to the updated person, while existing meetings remain with the originally assigned salesperson.
Troubleshooting
Salesperson Not Appearing in Dropdown
If a team member doesn't show up in the Assigned Salesperson dropdown:
Verify they've been invited to your workspace and accepted the invitation
Confirm they've connected their Google Calendar via Settings > Email & Calendar
Check that they've set their availability in the AI SDR calendar settings
Can't Find the Options Tab
The Options tab appears in your campaign details view after you've created the campaign. If you don't see it, make sure you're viewing an individual campaign (not the campaign list) and scroll through the tab bar at the top of the page.
Meetings Booking to Wrong Calendar
If meetings are booking to the wrong person's calendar, verify the Assigned Salesperson is correctly saved in the Options tab. Click into the campaign and check the Options tab shows the right person in the dropdown.
