This guide walks you through creating a new cold email campaign using the Cold Email Agent wizard. You'll set up your campaign in four simple steps: naming your campaign, selecting leads, creating email sequences, and choosing email accounts to send from.

Prerequisites

Before you create a campaign, ensure you have:

  • Warmed email accounts - Additional email accounts can be purchased in Cold Email Agent > Email Accounts

  • A cold email provider - Connect either Acquisity (built-in) or Instantly.ai (via API key) in Settings > Cold Email Agent

  • Sufficient credits - AI-generated leads require 2,500 credits. You can purchase more credits in Settings > Cold Email Agent

  • Admin or member role - Viewer roles cannot create campaigns

Consider using pre-warmed domains and inboxes for better deliverability. You can select these after campaign creation in the campaign's Options tab.

Step 1: Navigate to the Campaign Wizard

  1. From your dashboard, click Cold Email Agent in the sidebar

  2. Click the New Campaign button in the top-right corner

This opens the four-step campaign wizard.

Step 2: Name Your Campaign

Enter a descriptive name for your campaign (e.g., "SaaS Founders Outreach Q1"). This helps you identify the campaign later in your dashboard.

Click Next to continue.

Step 3: Add Leads

Choose how you want to source leads for your campaign:

Option A: AI-Generated Leads

  1. Select AI Generated

  2. Enter your target niche (e.g., "SaaS companies in HR tech")

  3. Select locations - defaults to United States, or choose multiple countries

  4. Add job titles you want to target (e.g., CEO, Founder, VP of Sales)

  5. Choose company headcount ranges (e.g., 10-50, 51-200)

  6. Set the number of leads to generate (500 to 10,000)

AI lead generation costs 2,500 credits and takes 5-15 minutes to scrape and validate leads. You'll see progress logs during this process.

Option B: Upload CSV

  1. Select Upload CSV

  2. Upload your CSV file containing lead information

  3. Map the CSV columns to the required fields: Email, Name, and Company

  4. Validate your data to ensure formatting is correct

Click Next after configuring your leads.

Step 4: Create Email Sequences

Build the email sequence that will be sent to your leads:

Option A: AI-Generated Sequences

  1. Select AI Generated

  2. Choose an outreach method:

    • Podcast - Invite prospects to appear on a podcast

    • Interview - Request an interview or case study

    • AI Audit - Offer a free audit or analysis

    • Direct - Straightforward product/service pitch

  3. The AI will generate a multi-step sequence with variants

Option B: Custom Sequences

  1. Select Custom

  2. Write your email copy for the initial message

  3. Add follow-up emails with appropriate delays

  4. Create variants of each email for A/B testing

Sequence generation takes 1-2 minutes. Click Next when complete.

Step 5: Select Email Accounts

  1. Review the list of your connected email accounts

  2. Check the boxes next to the accounts you want to use for sending

  3. Ensure accounts are verified and active

Click Launch Campaign to finalize.

Step 6: Monitor Campaign Progress

After launching, you'll be redirected to your campaign dashboard where you can:

  • View Analytics - Track sends, opens, replies, and conversion rates

  • Manage Leads - See lead status and engagement

  • Review Emails - Check sent messages and responses

If using AI-generated leads, the platform will scrape and validate leads before sending begins. This can take several minutes.

Your campaign is now live! The AI SDR will automatically handle email replies and categorize responses.

Troubleshooting

Low reply rates? This is normal for cold email. Optimize by testing different follow-up schedules and using A/B testing with sequence variants. Learn more about best practices in the Cold Email Agent Guide.

Insufficient credits error? Top up your credits in Settings > Cold Email Agent. AI lead generation requires a minimum of 2,500 credits per campaign.
