Resetting or Deleting Pipeline Data

Overview

This guide walks you through safely resetting or deleting a pipeline (funnel) in your CRM. You'll learn how to clear active deals that block deletion, move them to another pipeline, and permanently remove the pipeline structure once it's empty.

Deleting a pipeline cannot be undone. The pipeline structure and stage configuration will be permanently removed. Consider moving deals to another pipeline first to preserve your data for future reference.

Understanding Pipeline Deletion

Pipelines with active deals cannot be deleted. The system prevents deletion to protect your deal data from accidental loss. You'll see an error message when attempting to delete a pipeline that still contains deals.

Only pipelines that are completely empty—with all deals either moved, closed, or deleted—can be removed. The pipeline structure itself doesn't automatically delete the deals; you must clear them manually first.

Deals in "Won" or "Lost" stages may still count as active depending on your pipeline configuration. You'll need to move or delete these deals before proceeding.

Step 1: Check for Active Deals

Before attempting deletion, verify which deals remain in your pipeline:

  1. Navigate to CRM > Deals in your dashboard.

  2. Use the pipeline dropdown in the header to select the pipeline you want to delete (for example, "Podcast Funnel").

  3. Review all stage columns in the kanban view to identify remaining deals.

  4. Count the total number of deal cards across all stages.

If you see any deal cards, you must clear them before deletion. If the pipeline is already empty, skip to Step 3.

Step 2: Clear Deals from the Pipeline

You have two options for clearing deals: move them to another pipeline, close them, or delete them permanently.

Option A: Move Deals to Another Pipeline

Use this approach to preserve deal data while clearing the pipeline:

  1. Click a deal card to open the deal details panel.

  2. Click on the pipeline name currently assigned.

  3. Select a different pipeline from the dropdown menu.

  4. On the selection of a different pipeline, your changes will save.

  5. Repeat for each deal in the pipeline.

Option B: Delete Deals Permanently

Use this option only if you don't need the deal data:

  1. Click a deal card to open the details panel.

  2. Click the More menu (three dots) in the panel.

  3. Select Delete Deal.

  4. Confirm the deletion in the modal.

  5. Repeat for all remaining deals in the pipeline.

Deleted deals cannot be recovered. Export or archive important deal information before deletion if you need it for future reference.

Step 3: Delete the Pipeline

Once all deals are cleared, you can delete the empty pipeline:

  1. Navigate to CRM > Deals.

  2. Select the pipeline you want to delete from the dropdown in the header.

  3. Click the More menu (three horizontal dots) in the header.

  4. Select Delete Pipeline (shown in red).

  5. Read the confirmation modal: "Delete Pipeline '[Pipeline Name]'? This action cannot be undone."

  6. Click Confirm or Delete.

  7. You'll see a success message: "Pipeline deleted successfully."

The pipeline will disappear from your dropdown menu immediately. Verify removal by checking the pipeline selector—the deleted pipeline should no longer appear in the list.

Step 4: Verify Pipeline Removal

After deletion, confirm the pipeline is gone:

  1. Return to the CRM > Deals page.

  2. Click the pipeline dropdown in the header.

  3. Confirm the deleted pipeline is no longer listed.

  4. Check that your remaining pipelines display correctly without duplicates.

If Deletion Fails or the Lock Persists

If you've cleared all deals but still can't delete the pipeline, contact support for assistance:

  1. Copy the pipeline ID from your browser URL bar. It appears after ?pipeline= in the URL (for example, ?pipeline=abc123-def456).

  2. Open the support chat or email support with:

    • The pipeline ID or full URL

    • The pipeline name (for example, "Podcast Funnel")

    • Confirmation that you've moved or deleted all deals

    • Any error messages you received

  3. Support can investigate backend locks or data issues preventing deletion.

As a last resort, deleting your entire workspace will remove all pipelines, deals, and CRM data. See How to Delete a Workspace for details on permanent data removal policies. Only consider this if you need to reset your entire account.
